Portsmouth, NH-November 11, 2008: Ballroom Vermont, Dance Camp for Grownups, is celebrating its 11th year in 2009. In honor of this event, Ballroom Vermont will be awarding one full scholarship to one interested couple. Ballroom Vermont 2009 will be held at the Grand Summit Resort at Mount Snow in West Dover, VT for two seperate sessions, July 19-24, 2009 and July 26-July 31, 2009. It will feature 5 different levels of dance from Beginner to Advanced each taught by a qualified ballroom dance instructor. The principal instructor at Ballroom Vermont is Mandy Ball, certified by the Imperial Society of Dance and on the U.S. board of certification for that organization. All of BV's instructors have studied with her. This year's guest artists are U.S. National Professional Rhythm Champions and U.S. National Professional Mambo Champions, Joanna Zacharewicz and Jose DeCamps. Participants at Ballroom Vermont take dance classes 5-6 hours. A unique feature of Ballroom Vermont is that each lesson is complemented by a review session the following day. The guest artists teach 6 classes on Wed. and Thursday of each week. In addition, participants may also attend optional repertory classes to learn a group dance at the level they are studying. The group dances are all performed at the final gala dinner/dance on Thursday night, featuring a live band and a special performance by our guest artists.

 

Scholarship details:  In order to participate in the scholarship contest, a couple must be over the age of 21, and be attending camp for the first time. Those who sign up for camp before the scholarship is awarded are included in the contest. (Any payments made will be credited back to them if they win). Those already on our mailing list are included in the contest. The award will be made on April 15, 2009. To register for the contest couples should go to the Ballroom Vermont website, www.ballroomdancecamp.com and register for the Ballroom Vermont mailing list. The award will be made on the basis of a random drawing. The selected couple must be able to attend one of the sessions in 2009: July 19-24, 2009 or July 26-July 31, 2009 . The decision of the winning couple is final and at the discretion of Ballroom Vermont. Winners and the media will be notified by e-mail.

 

Ballroom Vermont was conceived by Byron Siegal and Peggi Morrow in 1998. After 3 years of studying dance with Peggi, Byron decided to collaborate with Ms. Morrow and create this dance learning camp. Peggi Morrow is the owner/director of the Portsmouth Ballroom in Portsmouth, NH. Mr. Siegal is also the founder of the successful Jazz Vermont, Band Camp for Grownups. Jazz Vermont is currently celebrating its 25th year. Both Jazz Vermont and Ballroom Vermont are divisions of the corporation, Camps for Grownups, Ltd.
